August 29, 2024: Health and Hospital Committee special hearing on myalgic encephalomyelitis/ chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
Join the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Health and Hospital Committee on Thursday, August 29 at 2 p.m. for a special hearing on myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and its links to long COVID. ME/CFS is a long-term condition that prevents people from being able to do doing their usual activities. It causes severe fatigue not improved by rest, problems thinking and sleeping, dizziness, pain, and many other symptoms. There’s currently no cure. The hearing will include two expert panels discussing what ME/CFS is, how to recognize and treat the condition, links to long COVID, and treatment options currently available at the County Health System.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian and the City of Mountain View are partnering up to host a screening of the student-led documentary Fentanyl High at Second Stage at the Mountain View Performing Arts Center.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian will hold the annual Lehigh Southwest Cement Plant & Permanente Quarry Public Meeting with various oversight agencies at the Cupertino Community Hall. The event will provide updates about the quarry and cement plant.
